Writing and commissions
I've written two song-cycles for community choir : Singing the River and Ballads of Blything Hundred. Both have direct relevance for people in Suffolk being set in the Blyth Valley and relating to the landscape, history and legends of the area. I've also composed numerous songs for community choirs and children, and wrote 'Where we love is Home' for the Ip-Art Festival 2010 - a piece commissioned for community choir to be sung in the centre of the city during the height of the Festival celebrations. Click on the link below for a sample from this piece.. For further examples of my work, see the 'Choirs' page where you'll find 2 videos of Halesworth Community choir singing my compostiions.
The piece below is still under construction but is part of a work in progress inspired by the work of Suffolk artist Harry Becker. Its a text from the book of Ezekiel, quoted by Becker when writing about his work 'the tree of the land shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land'
